Who We Are
The story behind The Undercarriage Registry and why we do what we do
Behind The Registry
The Undercarriage Registry started in 2010 as a simple idea: help people navigate the automotive aftermarket space with real information and honest recommendations. We’re a small team of automotive enthusiasts with a shared commitment to making vehicle ownership easier, safer, and more enjoyable.
What started as a neighborhood directory has grown into a trusted resource for people searching for expert installation, quality parts, and reliable service recommendations. We’ve worked with hundreds of local businesses, tested countless products, and listened to thousands of customer stories. Every recommendation here is built on that real-world experience.
How We Research & Evaluate
Our evaluation process is systematic and transparent. We look at four key dimensions for every recommendation:
- Quality & Reliability — Does the product or service consistently deliver what it promises? We track long-term customer satisfaction, not just reviews.
- Fair Pricing — Is the value reasonable for the market? We consider installation costs, warranty terms, and real ownership expenses.
- Professional Expertise — Are the installers trained, certified, and transparent about what they can and can’t do?
- Community Feedback — What do repeat customers actually say? We prioritize multi-year relationships and verified experiences over single ratings.
We track the same industry conversations followed by organizations like the Consumer Technology Association, the trade group behind CES and mobile/car electronics standards — so our recommendations stay grounded in where the industry is actually headed.
Our Standards, Stated Plainly
Verified Relationships
We only recommend businesses we’ve worked with directly or can vouch for through trusted networks. No pay-to-list schemes.
Transparency Always
We’re transparent about how we evaluate, what we prioritize, and why we recommend what we do. No hidden conflicts.
Community First
Every recommendation is made with your best interest in mind. We’ve been part of this community for over a decade.
What We Will Not Do
We keep our editorial integrity by setting clear boundaries. We don’t accept payment for placement, we don’t rank businesses based on advertising spend, and we don’t recommend services we haven’t personally vetted or reliably heard about from our community.
If you have feedback, a story, or think we’ve missed something, reach out. Our editorial contact page is here for exactly that reason.
